3-109 Nishiki, Kuriyama-cho, Yubari-gun, Hokkaido
Kobayashi is a sake brewery with a history of over 140 years, founded in Meiji 11 (1878). Proud of using 100% Hokkaido-grown rice, they continue to produce mild and aromatic Japanese sake that complements meals, with minimal astringency to highlight the ingredients.
During the time when the coal mining towns flourished, particularly in the central region of Hokkaido, the "Meishu Kitano Nishiki" sake was beloved by the coal miners as a way to relax and unwind. The pioneering spirit of that era still resides in the brewery and its signature sake, continuously exuding an irresistible charm that captivates people.
The traditional Japanese house, "Kobayashi-ke," where the previous generations lived, has been preserved in its original state. Guided tours are available, led by caretakers who provide insights into the history. The indoor spaces make you feel as if you've traveled back in time to the Meiji era, and the garden, where the changing seasons can be distinctly felt, is also a noteworthy attraction.
